Peaceful Protests on the Beach

Were you checking out South Beach real estate this past weekend by any chance?  Did you happen to stop by the beach?  Depending on the time of day you went, you may have spotted a rather odd sight on the sands of barrier island: a seemingly endless line of people holding hands between Lummus and Marjory Stoneman Douglas Ocean Beach Park.  What was going on?

Rest assured that the silent protest of sorts was only a peacefully symbolic line meant to urge politicians to take a greater stance against offshore drilling and do more to ensure clean air.  In other words, a non violent effort to promote environmental responsibility.  The entire protest was a means of supporting a relatively recent movement called Hands Across the Hand which focuses on supporting environmentally conscious energy.

While South Beach was probably the one generating the headlines, similar events took place to the north in Fort Lauderdale on popular Las Olas Boulevard.  Those of you who own Miami Beach homes, did you participate in or watch the protest?
